Common questions about working with Solace Development, our process, pricing, and what to expect from a bespoke software engagement.
It means every system we build is designed and engineered from scratch specifically for your business. We do not use templates, starter kits, or off-the-shelf platforms. The architecture, codebase, and infrastructure are yours — built to fit your exact requirements.
We are technology-agnostic and choose the right stack for each project. Our recent work includes .NET / WPF for desktop applications, Laravel and Vue 3 for web platforms, Nuxt for static and server-rendered sites, and various cloud infrastructure including MySQL, Redis, and Stripe integrations. We are comfortable across the full stack.
Every project is scoped individually based on complexity, timeline, and requirements. We do not offer fixed packages or hourly rates published online. After an initial discovery conversation, we provide a detailed proposal with transparent pricing. Most engagements range from small focused tools to large multi-platform systems.
Timelines depend entirely on scope. A focused single-purpose tool might take 4–8 weeks. A full multi-platform system with desktop, web, and API layers typically runs 3–6 months. We provide realistic timelines during the proposal phase and communicate progress throughout.
Yes. While we are based in North Wales, UK, we work with clients across the United Kingdom and internationally. Most of our engagements are conducted remotely with regular video calls, shared project boards, and continuous deployment pipelines.
Yes. We offer post-launch support and maintenance agreements tailored to each project. This includes bug fixes, security updates, infrastructure monitoring, and feature development. We do not disappear after delivery — we ensure the system performs in production.
We can, though our preference is building from first principles. If you have an existing system that needs significant rework, modernisation, or migration, we are happy to assess it. We will be honest about whether it is more effective to refactor or rebuild.
We follow a four-phase process: Discovery (understanding your business and requirements), Architecture (designing the technical solution), Engineering (building and testing), and Delivery (deployment, documentation, and knowledge transfer). Each phase has clear deliverables and checkpoints.
Our primary focus is desktop applications and web platforms. For mobile requirements, we typically recommend progressive web applications (PWAs) or responsive web interfaces that work across all devices. If native mobile development is essential, we can discuss options during discovery.
You do. Once a project is delivered and final payment received, all source code, documentation, and intellectual property transfers to you completely. We do not retain licensing rights or impose ongoing fees for code we have written for you.
Off-the-shelf software is a pre-built product designed to serve many businesses with broadly similar needs — CRM systems, accounting tools, e-commerce platforms. Bespoke software is built specifically for your organisation, fitting your exact workflows, integrations, and requirements without compromise. Off-the-shelf is faster to deploy initially but accumulates workarounds and limitations as your business evolves. Bespoke carries a higher upfront investment but eliminates those constraints entirely and becomes a proprietary asset you own outright.
Yes. Multi-tenant SaaS platforms are within our core capability. Our Solace Plates project is a live example — a Laravel-based cloud portal with Stripe subscription billing, role-based access control, machine licensing, and a licensed Windows desktop application. We design the data model, subscription tiers, billing logic, and access control from first principles, tailored entirely to your business model.
Yes. We sign non-disclosure agreements before any substantive project discussion takes place. Client confidentiality is standard practice. We do not disclose client identity, project scope, technical details, or proprietary business information without explicit written permission. Case studies published on this site are shown with the client's knowledge.
It depends on the project. We work best when there is a clearly defined problem, a realistic budget for a precision-engineered solution, and a business that requires software matched to specific operational requirements. Some early-stage businesses need this from day one — particularly those in regulated industries or with workflows that generic tools cannot accommodate. If an off-the-shelf tool genuinely fits your current needs, we will tell you honestly — we only take on projects where bespoke engineering is the right answer.
